Age of Conan GM Fired For Cybering 11
It's common knowledge that the best things in life are to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women. An Age of Conan GM decided to try and add cybering to the list and was fired for his trouble. Funcom, the company behind Age of Conan states, "If the guidelines are broken there are consequences." While I will concede that cybering with players when you're a GM is a breach of etiquette, it's not as serious as a charging Rhinoceros; it doesn't get any more serious than a Rhinoceros about to charge your ass. I put on my robe and wizard hat.
Jeeze hes in trouble for that... (Score:2)
and Meh that GM is horrible cyberer anyway.
But seriously are you kidding me. That is retarted on so many levels. Its not that big of a deal. I don't think you should take away someone's job for being a guy.
That like if a coworker saw me, told me to go to her apartment just to visit, and than suddenly took off her clothes and told me to do her. And than after telling me to take off my pants, than informing me that it is against company policy to have relations with a coworker and that I would be fired.

Not quite, it's like if she threw off her clothes behind the filing cabinet and they overheard the noise.
The point is was it done on company time or not?
That was a bad link anyways the correct one is: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm?THREAD=192300&BHCP=1%2C1%2C1&PAGE=1&bhjs=-1 [mmorpg.com]
Based on the link I posted I wonder if it was a setup on the part of a player with an axe to grind?
Re: (Score:2)
It still is just a douchebag thing to do on the companies part. I mean there is no doubt about that. But I will agree it is outside of the code of conduct and the GM should have known and recognized that.
He is an idiot for doing that but he doesn't deserve to get fired because some guy who hated him decided to set him up.
It just so stupid.

I'm sorry but that is pretty low on the totem pole of idiot stuff.
Rather have GMs cybering occasionally than being abusive and screwing up. I just think it is premise for some sort of chastising but not the ultimate consequence of being fired.
I mean cmon.

The guy was working. He shouldn't have been playing with his dick on the job. He deserved to be fired.
Given the issues with corrupt GM's in Eve Online, having any GM in a game open to exploitation due to past acts or even the implication of such is going to be a problem.
I fail to see the problem with this.
And it's certainly a cyberfuck he'll never forget.

I can agree with you 100% on that one. It certainly is a cyberfuck he'll never forget. :P
But yea he kinda did fall into that way too easily. It's funny I know guys in SL that got trapped like that (eg. they were already commited). So guys can be pretty easy to foul when it comes to that :P
