The Dutch city of Leeuwarden has lost the municipal pornography archive and officials fear it may be gone forever. A spokesman for the city said the collection may have been taken home "accidentally" by an employee or visitor. "We're hoping that someone will say 'Hey, I have that in my attic' and bring it back," he said Thursday. "No questions asked." Leeuwarden shouldn't be too upset. I've found it a good practice to get rid of your porn archive and rebuild every 6 months or so.

A dutch newspaper states "City's are obligated to archive their history. Pornography included."
I'm dutch, didn't know. But beleive its a good thing they archive everything though. Imagine how much wiser we where if they did that from the start. (say ~10.000 years ago)

In Leeuwarden they don't speak English that well. When they were reading the backup manual, they translated "back up" into "pick up". Anyway, it's not such a stupid thought, as this collection was so big, it fitted in a shoe box. So I think this was an old-school collection, you know, printed on paper and stuff.

If you've ever been to the Netherlands, you'd know by now that there are almost no taboos in PORN there.
- animals
- feces
- families
- furries
- adult babies
To be precise:
- everything except underage kids
(this was declared illegal because of international pressure in the 1970s or so)
So, just let me say: whatever there was in this collection, most people probably would not want to see it even if they were paid to. Really. Dutch sex shops have open windows and are running advertising and sample videos in TVs view

Pornography has been around for ages, and I mean: since man figured out how to draw stuff. [citation needed]
Where are the records? I, for one, would think that older porn should be preserved. What about the porn flicks from the 50s? what about the really old playboy magazines? There really should be a "world wide foundation for the preservation of Pornography" Some would argue that it's "History" or "Art."
