Postal officials started an investigation after receiving complaints about opened mail. The investigation led to Hudson pleading guilty to opening mail and taking money out of the birthday cards. US District Judge Edward Garcia sentenced him to five months in federal prison followed by five months of home detention, and Hudson must pay nearly $3,000 in restitution.
