I remember noting how programming is one of the only fields where it's reasonable to say "You have to wait for the children to finish being executed before killing the parent", as I was discussing some threading issue with a colleague.
It's worse being a mathematician: you start innocently talking about blowing up the plane [wordpress.com] in the airport on the way back from a conference, and the next thing you know...
