Klingons to Take on Furries in Bowling Match 104

An anonymous reader writes "Yes, you read the title right. BoingBoing reports that Atlanta will be hosting an epic bowling match pitting Furries versus Klingons. Who will dominate the pins, the brute or the cute? 'It's like Quadrophenia with furrs and trekkers instead of mods and rockers.'"

But they aren't more deadly. There really isn't anything the Furries can do that will guarantee that they will live through this match. But if they bowl their worst then the Klingons will probably make them suffer less.
    • I just don't get the dress-up thing. I went to Dragon*Con this year (my first time ever at a 'Con), and I must say I was actively frightened by some of those folks. Furries, Klingons, half-nekkid 250 lb. goth chicks in air-tight corsets, and anime cosplay... wierdness. Now, apparently, there are pirate-furry-goth-girls, too. I'll never go again. Except if Black Cat is there again in costume (holy crap!!!).

I'm sure I speak for many here when I say, "EEEeeeeeewwwwwwww!!"

        • Indeed, you do. I experienced this phenomenon multiple times at Otakon. Fortunately for everyone around me, none of the sightings were immediately after eating.

Yeah, well I can top that.

I was at TorontoTrek this year. There's a regular contingent of Klingons who come in uniform and makeup.

Also this year, 300 was in theaters.

Apparently, the Klingons liked the movie. So much so, that they decided to come in Spartan costumes from the movie.

        Let's look at some facts:

        • The Spartan costume, from 300, is basically a cape and a leather thong.
        • The actors from 300 either trained for months, or were already bodybuild
      • Ahhh... that's all the fodder of the best drinking game in the world... "Ughhh!"

The rules are simple. If you see something that makes you go "Ughhh!" you need to drink. If you can describe something that makes someone at the table go "Ughhh!" without looking, they must chug. Sci-fi/Fantasy conventions are the best locations to play this game (if you hate your liver).

It is at least a self-limiting game... eventually you need to see something truly horrible to go "Ughhh!"...

        I'm going to repress those

I was gonna say "Whoever wins, we lose", but then I realized that "Alien vs. Predator" was accurate enough.

    From TFA:

"The OP of the ad made this up. The challenge was never accepted because it was never offered.

While this event WILL PROBABLY happen in the future, it will not happen this Saturday. [None of the Klingons in our group] are available on such short notice, and many of our best bowlers are off-world (cough) doing, um, Klingon stuff.

I admit I'm surprised how this is turning out to be so popular. Perhaps we can use this to benefit a sponsored charity."

  • I don't get it. Who exactly do the "Furries" represent? I am familiar with the Klingons, but if the Furries represent some group in particular, I have no clue who that would be...

Have you ever tried to get a Klingon off a Furry? Need lots of soap and hot water... specially if its been there a while.
    • Have you ever tried to get a Klingon off...

      No.
    • Dude, to picture this, you first of all have to picture a Klingon on a Furry.

You sick, sick bastard! Though... sounds somewhat kinky...
    • Have you ever tried to get a Klingon off using Furry? Not a pretty sight, let me tell you. I still have the nightmares.

I thought it just required getting out the garden hose and some loud noise.

      I'm still cackling about this.....

How do the furries get their fingers into the bowling ball holes?

"Nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Could we also setup spay or neuter stations so that we can lower the odds of these genes making it back into the pool? The usual "geek virgin" jokes don't apply because these people do breed with each other.

Ever play a game of url russian roulette? You type in urls that sound too horrible to be true and see if they're registered. If registered, take one drink. If a real site, chug the beer. gayfursuitsex.com ended that game, it's a real pay pr0n site! No idea if it's still a valid url and I sure as fuck am not going to check and see.
    • URL RUSSIAN ROULETTE! That's awesome! I'm gonna have to try that sometime. Thanks for the tip.
    • Umm... ok, so? Guys enjoying sex in fursuits while getting taped (or so I assume, from the name of the page). Ok.

To be blunt, I've seen worse (FAR, FAR WORSE) on the net. It may be a "wtf" moment, but rather not a "augh, take my eyes out with a spoon!" moment.

Yeah, but we're not talking sleek hardbodies like you'd expect from mainstream pr0n. We're not even talking the kind of semi-attractive people you get in amateur material. We're talking genuine furries in all their grease and offensive body odor.

Ok, so it might not be as bad as finding kiddie snuff porn on the mail server at work but it's still pretty unsettling.

        • While I'm not the GP poster, nor have I ever seen gay fursuit porn, it can't be nearly as bad as the harlequin fetus. If we weren't so desensitized to them, goatse and tubgirl would probably be worse too. Hell, a lot of the stuff on rotten.com is definitely worse.
        • So? There are people who get off to people your nose picks up a few minutes before they enter the room. There's no fetish so weird that someone wouldn't have it. Besides, there are actually furries that deem hygene important. As usual it's a small group that gives the whole group a bad name. I know a few "hardcore" furries. Some stranger than others, and all of them obsessed with pictures and plushies (some of their apartments are ... well, unique). But funny enough, none of them make me reproduce my breakf

Havoc? The pirates would be too busy drinking to keep the ball in their own lane; In the ninja lane the scoreboard would be blank one moment, the lights would go out for three or four seconds, and suddenly it'd read 300, 300, 300... and there might be some dead pirates.

Ninjas > pirates. Everyone knows that.

        Wrong on many counts

        Why ninjas lose:
        1) Bowling is a team sport, its common knowledge that >1 ninja suddenly becomes the faceless gang that dies to the heroes
        2) Bowling shoes, nuff said
        3) Flying is a foul

        Why pirates win:
        1) The cannonball/bowling ball connection
        2) Bowling is a sport you can drink beer while participating, this is pirate territory
        3) Starrrrrrike!

The blind admiration of ninjas is a sure sign of weakness of logic.

        Avast!

When bowling, the team faces the pins one at a time. Perfect.

          2) Bowling shoes, nuff said
These will be a bigger problem for pirates. Peg leg + bowling shoe = scratched up lane + ejection from alley.

          3) Flying is a foul
Not as long as you both start and land behind the line.

          re - pirates

          1) The cannonball/bowling ball connection
Neither can you put bowling shoes on a cannon, tho
  • Well, if the furries actually did manage to win, then the klingons would have no choice to "Kill them where they stand". Otherwise they wouldn't be a true klingon warrior.

  • Read into the messages and you'll realize that it was the STAR TREK Fan Club, Atlanta Chapter, that made the challenge, not the Klingon FC. My impression is that the Klingons are going to go forward with this due to the fact that they don't apologize or back down without honor, they just shoot... And shoot some more.

Now the Furries, (in which I am one and quite proud of) i've yet to see any kind of response from the group that frequents the alley that this challenge is to take place in. The odds of them acc
    • *shrug* I've known about this match for a while. I even recognize some of the suiters in the publicity photo from friends I have in Atlanta. As usual, /. picks up with good (and not so good-natured) flames. Amazing how a set that jokingly admits to using the Internet for porn gets all squeamish just because the porn in question is not necessarily heterosexual.

For the record, it's a bowling match in a public place. It would make a great charity fund-raiser. It will probably be a lot of fun for everyone

Klingons vs. Furries [googlefight.com]. They have a bigger wiki [memory-alpha.org] than ours [wikifur.com], but we're working on it.
  • If the Tribbles were any indication, the Klingon's are so hosed! :-P
  • Klingon Bowler 1: It's just a little bunny.
Klingon Bowler 2: Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!

  • Klingons will win, only because at the last minute, the Kilrathi got replaced with the... um, things from the movie adaptation (ifyoumaycallitthat). That will leave them no chance at all.
  • Though, in all honesty, last year's KvF event the furries had issues seeing and holding onto the ball due to their fursuit pas. This year they're getting spcial gloves - that may even the odds a bit.

    Still, $10 on the Klingons.
