Nigerian Spammers Up the Ante 7

It seems the Nigerian spammers have learned you can't always kill them with kindness. Now they just threaten to kill you. A woman in St. Louis received a mail that said, in part, "Am very sorry for you my friend, is a pity that this is how your life is going to end as soon as you don't comply. ... I don't have any business with you, my duty as I am mailing you now is just to KILL/ASSASINATE you and I have to do it as I have already been paid for that. Get back to me now if you are ready to pay some fees to spare your life, If you are not ready for my help, then I will carry on with my job straight-up."

  • Wow it used to be that they would wait until you backed out to threaten you. Now they just threaten you out right! To funny. As a well armed geek I would love to see them try. But alas, I'm sure that someone will make this economically feasible for them, and they'll start pumping out more of these threats until they e-mail the wrong person, and maybe, just maybe they'll be the ones who get assassinated!

Indeed! My first thought was to reply, "Unless you hand over the entire fee to me, and swear never to threaten me again, I will have no choice but to send my personal assassin to remove you."

And if the inverse-mark protests, up the ante: "I am sorry, but my assassins are already on their way. If you wire me the fee immediately, plus $NNNN for processing, I may be able to call them off before they can reach you."

    • Threatening is one thing. But, are they going to push an excess number of electrons in my direction at an elevated pace for the act of killing? Or do they simply mail-order me a bullet for self-inflicting a lethal wound? I fail to see the impact of the threat.
  • I would think that the Nigerians would learn to SPELL/PUNCTUATE before they set out to KILL/ASSASSINATE.

Thing is, in MANY/MOST jurisdictions, one could just go to the local POLICE/LAW ENFORCEMENT and LEAVE/FILE a REPORT/COMPLAINT for a THREAT/INTIMIDATION. Whether that would START/INITIATE an investigation is a different matter altogether.
