June 20 Declared Happiest Day of the Year 6

Cliff Arnall, a psychologist and former tutor at Cardiff University has come up with an equation to calculate the happiest day of the year. Guess what? It's today. According to Arnall the feeling of optimism caused by the combination of lighter evenings, the prospect of holidays and memories of childhood summers is at its peak on June 20. So remember as you sit at work today and stare at the clock, wondering if time somehow slows down while you are in this brick and mortar coffin, wasting the best years of your life, it's never going to get better than it is right now.

June 20 Declared Happiest Day of the Year

  • So if we invert the equation, will the result be the saddest day of the year?

I'd laugh if it was Christmas, which is 5 days more than 6 months hence. I'd laugh harder if it was Valentine's Day.

    • Well, it's interesting that this falls just before the summer solstice--It's often claimed that depression around Christmas is due to the lack of daylight (the winter solstice being ony a few days earlier).
This leads me to wonder: Is the trend reversed down under?
  • because I've been the most depressed today than ever in my life, shit, that means its opposite day?!?

      Me too.

I let Tami use the car yesterday, and gave her ten bucks for the gas tank. The first thing that happened this morning was I ran out of gas.

OTOH I always seem to be in one of the statistical tails.

OT but the blurb is right - this IS a total waste of my time. Why do I have to put a <p> in for a paragraph when I have "Plain Old Text" selected? Why is the CSS so horrible that most subject lines are obscured? Why is there green on green type that you have to highlight to read?

      I'd be ashamed to post

  • and their damned Solstice [circle-of-light.com] celebrations. Can't they just keep
their festive and evil holidays to themselves? /sarcasm
  • It's my birthday on the 20th of June, so I feel it's quite easy to believe in my case :)
