eBay Bans Sale of Harrier Jump Jet 14

Stoobalou writes "Internet auction site eBay has banned a UK man from selling a decommissioned Harrier jump jet. The seller, former RAF mechanic Chris Wilson said, 'It's a perfectly legitimate item to sell. It's not capable of "delivering weapons," it's not even capable of delivering a pizza.'"

  • Oh man, how cool would that bad boy be to have.

Granted it probably costs small mortgage worth of fuel to fly about (and more to get working again!) it'd be a damn fun toy to have.

    • From TFA:

The seller, former RAF mechanic Chris Wilson, says the one-time museum exhibit could not fly and was sold 'for display purposes only'.
According to Wilson, the outer shell of the rare 1971 two-seater T2 Harrier had been stripped of all its equipment and weaponry when it was retired by the RAF.

...So the fuel is free if you sit in the seat going WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I am flying!?

You could also get a lego harrier jump jet and get ALMOST the same experience!

    • You could always make these guys [vulcantothesky.org] an offer. They might be interested in offloading it.

One supersonic nuclear bomber. Excellent for doing the shopping, dropping off the kids or penetrating soviet air-defences to deliver some instant sunshine.

Well maintained, 2 careful owners. Comes with a spare set of keys and owners manual.

Pick-up or will deliver for $10,000 a mile.

Probably not much. If it's been 'decomissioned' then they probably took everything out, right down to the pilot's seat (which has explosives in it for the ejection mechanism).

  • This went on sale and ebay removed it. Due to publicity generated throughout the press, a private sale was arranged outside of ebay, which might I add is against ebay's terms and conditions.

I call this poetic justice. What are Ebay going to do now? complain about not getting their 10% sellers fee?

If you have a procedure with 10 parameters, you probably missed some.
