Submission + - DARPA Wants to Make Computers Adapt to Humans (securityweek.com)

wiredmikey writes: The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is asking for help designing a new approach to authentication. According to DARPA, the goal of its Active Authentication Program is to advance research in the area of software biometric modalities for computer system authentication.

DARPA says the key to this approach is to make computers adapt to humans, rather than the other way around. In other words, the agency wants to investigate approaches that determine a computer user’s identity through the activities the user normally performs – making the user the password instead of the actual password.

To solicit ideas, DARPA will be holding an Active Authentication Proposer Day in Arlington, VA, on Nov. 18. Information on the unclassified event can be found here.
