Record For Continuous Movie Watching Broken

Suresh Joachim and Claudia Wavra say they have broken the world record for continuous movie watching, after seeing 57 films in 123 hours in a plexi-glass house in Times Square. A Guinness World Records spokesman says it appears the two have broken the movie-watching record but says it will take two weeks to officially verify. For the life of me I can't figure out why it would take two weeks to verify inactivity, but I'm sure the good people at Guinness have their reasons. Eight challengers started on Oct. 2 with "Iron Man," and 72 hours later, only Suresh and Claudia remained.

I could see it being a rather difficult contest under the terms "cannot divert your eyes" if you have no say in the movies. Thelma and Louise are cinematic masterworks when compared to some others [wikipedia.org] that simply [wikipedia.org] shouldn't even be [wikipedia.org] considered fit [wikipedia.org] for human consumption. Those even make notoriously bad [wikipedia.org] science fiction [wikipedia.org] movies from the days before the day [wikipedia.org] look great. If any of those beforementioned instruments of torture came up in the rotation I would do anything humanly possible to escape the contest.
