Leave God a Message 5

If you've ever wanted to pick up the phone, and leave a message for god, dutch artist Johan van der Dong has just the number for you. Johan has set up a local telephone number in the Netherlands, where he urges people to leave messages for God on his answering machine. "Like praying, leaving a voicemail message is a way to organize your thoughts," he said. "It's a perfect combination for some contemplation." If you dial 06-4424-4901 (or +316-4424-4901 if calling from outside the Netherlands) starting March 7 you will hear, "Hi, you are speaking to God. I'm not in right now so leave a message after the beep." It's strange that the almighty doesn't have a vanity number or at least one that is easier to remember.

Leave God a Message

  • This is why God didn't have an answering machine before. Now you can be like, "but I left you a message! I know you got it, and yet I STILL have the herpes!" It will make for awkward times later.
    • This has already been done.

From Wikipedia's article on Pain of Salvation - BE [wikipedia.org]:
'Another song consists entirely of voice messages to be left on "God's answering machine". To approach this song, the band asks the subscribers of their newsletter to call a certain phone number and say what ever they would want to say to God.'

You can even listen to the result on YouTube: Vocari Dei [youtube.com]

  • I'll configure my electric monk to call twice a day, and be sure all my prayer needs are fully automated.

  • You mean like the one people have set up in the past (like the one Pain of Salvation set up for their album BE)?
