Restaurant Charges Extra If You Don't Finish Everything 8

At Hayashi Ya Japanese restaurant you can eat all you want for $26.95, but if you don't clean your plate it's 3% more. The manager says he implemented the extra cost two years ago to help with the restaurant's bottom line by reducing waste. This is one restaurant every mother could be proud of.

  • I fully support this restaurant. There are some all you can eat Sushi places where I live and they charge 1$ per piece you leave behind. It's to prevent people from ordering too much and then taking it all home - no take out allowed unless you order a la carte.
  • people who are very frugal could order less in order to save their self the extra few bucks. in this case the resturant loses money.

    • They're saving money by implementing this in the first place, so they should make about the same, if not more, money by using this.

  • This is quite common at buffets in the Philippines. I've even seen it at a few sushi restaurants in Toronto, although these are places where you order bit by bit, as opposed to walking up to a table full of food and serving yourself.
