Boeing 767 Simulator In a Bedroom 13

192939495969798999 writes "Here's a brief story about a man who has built a 767 simulator in his home. This simulator differs from others that I've seen by having a pretty clean, professional console and layout, and what appear to be authentic displays. According to the article it cost more than £10,000 to install."

Why not just become a pilot at this point..

If he wants to fly a real 767, it'll cost a lot more and take much longer.

Seriously, what's wrong with just doing it as a hobby?

    • It's much more expensive to learn to fly in most European countries than it is the U.S. That's why so many foreign nationals train here.

Because even if he earned his license he wouldn't be able to just take out a jumbo jet for joyride over a scenic desert?

  • It seems to me that in our current state of over-blown paranoia, building a jumbo-jet simulator in your basement (while cool) is kind of a bad idea.
  • I am an avid flight-simmer. And I am jealous.

Now if we could only get decent force feedback controls for those sims eh... I would be happy with that, although I would also love a setup like that.

Every nonzero finite dimensional inner product space has an orthonormal basis. It makes sense, when you don't think about it.

Working...
